Holding a Sumatra Disaster Awareness Action, the UMBY Faculty of Psychology Student Executive Board Raised Funds
Amidst the sad news coming from the island of Sumatra, the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Psychology at Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta (UMBY) took action through humanitarian action. On Saturday, November 29, 2025, the Student Executive Board distributed donation posters through various social media platforms. Then, on Sunday, December 7, 2025, they took to the streets of Yogyakarta to raise funds.
The Head of the UMBY Peduli Psychology Student Executive Board, Riski Reza Kaban, encouraged the entire community to join in expressing their concern. Every donation made a significant contribution to easing the burden on the affected victims.
"A little from us will mean a lot to them. Let's share to ease their burden," said Riski Reza.
The total donations collected amounted to Rp 4,450,000, which were then distributed through the Yogyakarta City BAZNAS on Monday, December 15, 2025.
Salsa Rizkika Fatehah, S.Hum, the Head of Division 1 of BAZNAS, expressed her appreciation for this initiative, as it went beyond online channels. The Student Executive Board (BEM F Peduli #2) also took to the streets to raise funds as a concrete act of concern, solidarity, and support. "May every act of charity be rewarded, bring blessings to one's wealth, and strengthen brotherhood amidst the trials befalling Sumatra," she said.
The Head of Student Affairs at UMBY, Nafida Hetty Marhaeni, S.Pd., M.Pd., supported the BEM Faculty of Psychology's initiative to raise funds for disaster victims. She stated that this social action reflects the students' concern and empathy for others experiencing hardship. She hopes this activity will provide tangible benefits to the affected victims and raise awareness of the importance of solidarity and social awareness among students.
"This aid may not be able to heal all the wounds. But it does contain prayers and concern for them," Nafida explained.
