UMBY's Master of Psychology Program Achieves Excellent Accreditation

UMBY's Master of Psychology Program Achieves Excellent Accreditation

The Master of Psychology Study Program at Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta (UMBY) has officially received an Excellent accreditation rating from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). This achievement is outlined in the Decree of the Director of the Executive Board of BAN-PT Number 7026/SK/BAN-PT/Ak/M/VII/2026. The accreditation status is valid for five years, from July 21, 2026, to July 21, 2031.

The Head of the UMBY Master of Psychology Study Program, Nina Fitriana, M.A., M.Psi., Ph.D., Psychologist, stated that this achievement is the result of the collective hard work of the entire academic community in maintaining a commitment to educational quality.

"This Excellent predicate proves that the UMBY Master of Psychology is capable of meeting higher education quality standards, from governance, curriculum, learning processes, human resource quality, research and community service, to student and graduate outcomes," said Nina.

Nina explained that the key to this success lies in building a culture of quality through continuous evaluation and improvement. One way to achieve this is through curriculum improvements based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), which regularly involves lecturers, students, alumni, graduate users, professional associations, and relevant partners to ensure the curriculum remains relevant to developments in psychology and societal needs.

In addition to curriculum refinement and thesis supervision, the study program also actively encourages research productivity and scientific publications by lecturers and students. Student involvement in research, international seminars, and guest lecturer programs continues to be enhanced to ensure the punctuality of studies and the quality of graduates.

"This accreditation is not the end, but rather a stepping stone to further progress. We hope this achievement will further strengthen public trust in the UMBY Psychology Master's Program, enabling us to continue producing superior graduates with a global perspective and capable of addressing societal issues," he emphasized.

Responding to this achievement, the Dean of the UMBY Faculty of Psychology, Reny Yuniasanti, M.Psi., Ph.D., Psychologist, expressed her appreciation to the entire development team and the study program staff. She stated that this achievement should serve as ammunition for advancing to a higher level.

"Study programs must remain committed to improving faculty and student recognition, strengthening alumni and graduate user networks, and preparing for quality development toward a higher accreditation ranking," Reny explained.

Reny also touched on the need to enhance and strengthen internationalization, including increasing research output and publications with international reputations, developing a student and faculty research ecosystem, accelerating global academic reputation, and optimizing international grants.
