UMBY Psychology students belonging to the PSHT student club swept up four medals and the "Best Silat Athlete" title at the Batu Student Champion 2026.

UMBY Psychology students belonging to the PSHT student club swept up four medals and the "Best Silat Athlete" title at the Batu Student Champion 2026.

The Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta (UMBY) achieved outstanding success by bringing home four medals at the Batu Student Champion Open Tournament 2026.

This national-level *pencak silat* championship—contesting the Mayor of Batu Cup and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Trophy—took place at the Gajah Mada Sport Center in Batu City, East Java, from August 21 to 23, 2026. At the event, UMBY athletes faced stiff competition from contingents representing various universities and *pencak silat* schools across Indonesia.

From this fierce competition, the UMBY PSHT team successfully secured two gold medals and two silver medals. The gold medals were won by Endang Rositawati (Sports Science Study Program) and Nadia Nurul Fadila. In addition to winning gold, Endang Rositawati was named the Best *Pencak Silat* Athlete in the Women's Adult Category. Meanwhile, the two silver medals were contributed by Nadya Yumna (Psychology Study Program) and Ahmed Mahesa S (Communication Science Study Program).

This achievement did not happen overnight. The UMBY athletes underwent intensive physical and technical training prior to competing. In the arena, they were required not only to rely on technical agility but also on the ability to accurately read the situation and maintain total concentration.

Endang Rositawati stated that the key to her team's success lay in the discipline of managing time between academic activities and the training program.

"My teammates and I had to be disciplined in balancing our classes with intensive training. We also had to complete our coursework early so we could graduate on time. Even while preparing for the championship, we didn't fall behind in our studies," said Endang. He expressed his gratitude for receiving the "Best Pencak Silat Athlete" award. According to him, this achievement is the result of consistent training, guidance from his coach, and support from his family, peers, and the university.

"This achievement serves as both a valuable experience and a source of motivation for me to continue improving my skills in both sports and academics. I hope this accomplishment inspires other students to excel and bring honor to UMBY in various competitions," he added.

Demonstrating a commitment to fostering student achievement, Ir. Reo Sambodo, S.P., M.M.A., Head of the UMBY Student Affairs and Alumni Bureau, provides full support to athletes participating in championships. This support encompasses administrative assistance, guidance during preparation and the competition itself, and coordination with academic departments to ensure students can effectively fulfill their academic obligations.

Ir. Reo Sambodo stated that the university strives to provide ongoing motivation and guidance, enabling students to develop their potential and achieve success in non-academic fields. Through this support, UMBY hopes its athletes will perform at their best, achieve outstanding results, and bring prestige to the university in various competitions.

"We consistently support students who demonstrate potential and achievement across various fields, including sports. Through the guidance and facilities we provide, we hope students can fully develop their abilities without neglecting their academic responsibilities. Student achievements are a source of pride for the university and serve as proof that UMBY students are capable of excelling at regional, national, and international levels," said Ir. Reo Sambodo.
