The Faculty of Psychology is one of the faculties at Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta (UMBY), formerly known as Universitas Wangsa Manggala Yogyakarta. The Faculty of Psychology officially became part of Universitas Wangsa Manggala Yogyakarta in 1993, following the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia) Number 457/DIKTI/Kep/1993, dated July 23, 1993, which granted it "Registered" status. This designation marked the founding of the Faculty of Psychology as a higher education institution dedicated to education in the field of psychology.
In line with the institution's growth and the public's need for human resources in psychology, the UMBY Faculty of Psychology has continuously expanded its educational offerings by establishing and developing study programs across various academic levels. Currently, the Faculty conducts three study programs: the Bachelor of Psychology (S1) program, the Master of Psychology program, and the Psychology Professional Education program. The Psychology Professional Education program represents a change in nomenclature from the previous Master of Professional Psychology program.
The journey of the UMBY Faculty of Psychology reflects an ongoing commitment to developing psychology education that remains relevant to societal needs and scientific advancements. Through its bachelor's, master's, and professional programs, the Faculty strives to produce graduates who possess both academic and professional competence, and who are capable of contributing to the advancement of psychological science and the improvement of public psychological well-being.
