The 26th UMBY Psychologists' Professional Oath Produces Professional Psychologists Ready to Serve the Community

The Faculty of Psychology at Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta (UMBY) once again inaugurated its graduates of the Master of Professional Psychology Program through the 26th Psychologists' Professional Oath ceremony, held at the Lullilo Ballroom, Loman Park Hotel, Yogyakarta, on Thursday (April 24th).

Twelve students were officially inaugurated and took the Professional Oath, led by Miftahun Ni'mah Suseno, M.A., Psychologist, Chair of the Yogyakarta Regional Association of Indonesian Students Association (HIMPSI), the Association of Indonesian Students Associations (HIMPSI) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The event was also attended by the Rector of UMBY, Dr. Ir. Agus Slamet, S.TP., M.P., MCE, who congratulated all the graduates and encouraged them to continue practicing the noble values of professional service.

"Congratulations and success to all the new psychologists of Class XXVI. May you optimally utilize your knowledge and expertise and become part of the noble ideals embedded in the Mercu Buana March: to become individuals who are beneficial to the nation and state," he said.

The Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Reny Yuniasanti, M.Psi., PhD., Psychologist, also delivered an inspiring message about the importance of lifelong learning in this profession.

“The profession of psychology requires us to continuously learn and hone ourselves, both in terms of knowledge and empathy. I hope today's graduates will continue to grow into adaptive and visionary individuals. This is the starting point for action and collective contribution to addressing Indonesia's challenges. Mental health issues constantly arise and are our homework. We hope we can collaborate and contribute to resolving mental health issues,” she said.

The Head of the Master of Professional Psychology Study Program, Sri Muliati Abdullah, M.A., Psychologist, also expressed her deep appreciation. She congratulated and thanked the students for their dedication, who have gone through the long process of pursuing their professional education.

“We are proud and truly appreciate the graduates' efforts, who have overcome various academic and practical challenges. This is not the end, but the beginning of your real contribution as psychologists in society,” she said.

Also in attendance were Ir. Wafit Dinarto, M.Sc., MCE, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs; Tutut Dewi Astuti, S.E., M.Sc., Ak., CA., CTA., ACPA., CTFAIA., MCE., CAP., CTT, Vice Rector for Human Resources; the administrators and lecturers of the Master of Professional Psychology study program, as well as the teaching staff who have contributed to their education throughout the years; and the students' guardians.

This event marked the official inauguration of the graduates as professional psychologists, ready to uphold professional ethics and social responsibility. It also demonstrated the commitment of the UMBY Faculty of Psychology to continue producing quality graduates capable of making a real contribution to Indonesian society.
